Montreal, MontrealAlouettes.com – Jarrett Payton, son of one of the greatest running backs in professional football history, Walter Payton, will be one of the running backs in the backfield at the Alouettes’ next training camp.
Montreal Alouettes’ Vice President, General Manager and Head Coach Jim Popp announced today that Jarrett Payton has signed a one-year contract plus an option with the Montreal Alouettes.
Payton (6’, 220 lbs), 26, was the property of the Tennessee Titans over the last three years, playing 13 games. He also spent time with the NFL Europe Amsterdam Admirals. In 2005, he won the World Bowl with the Admirals, and earned a spot on the NFLE All-Star team with 104 carries for 578 yards and seven touchdowns.
His father Walter Payton dominated the NFL with the Chicago Bears between 1975 and 1987. He had 3,838 carries for 16,726 yards and 110 touchdowns.
