Rookie Camp: Day 1

St-Jean-sur-Richelieu

Stade Haut-Richelieu
Poor weather moved the first official rookie practice indoors at the Stade Haut-Richelieu, the team’s covered training camp facility.

Returning rookies
Among the rookies, a few players who were around the team in 2006 including Chris Davis, Alain Kashama, C.J. Jones, Skip Seagraves and Joel Wright were on site.

Familiar names
Among some other rookies who have familiar faces at training camp are Yves Bériault, Jarrett Payton – son of the famous Walter – and kicker Christopher Milo who attended camp in 2006.

Stars
Receiver Chris Davis was the stand-out of today’s practice; he was all over the field, making several spectacular catches.

Alumni on the sidelines
Among the Alouettes’ Alumni on the sidelines were Bruno Heppell, Pierre Vercheval and Coach Jacques Dussault.

According to Coach Popp
About the numerous hits at practice:
“We want to make sure we set the tone of training camp by maintaining a fast rhythm from the get-go.”
On running back Jarrett Payton:
“His name first caught my attention and I’ve followed him ever since; but his play is what made me sign him to a contract.”
On running back Andrew Hamilton:
“He does things that most people can not do.”
