OFFICIAL RELEASE, Montréal, – For a 10th consecutive year, the Montreal Alouettes are offering their fans the opportunity to accompany the team on a road trip, this time to Hamilton’s Ivor Wynne Stadium on July 14.
There will also be a free visit to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame, where new member Pierre Vercheval and recently retired defensive tackle Ed Philion will sign autographs. The Alouettes’ cheerleaders will also offer a performance on site.
Departure will be at 8:15 a.m. from Montreal’s Central Station, and will make a stop at Dorval Station around 8:30 a.m. For $180, fans will get a train ticket on VIA Rail and one game ticket in the Alouettes’ fan section. The players, coaches and cheerleaders will join the fans on the ride home.
Offered by VIA Rail Canada, the Alouettes have organized the fan train since 1998. They attracted more than 850 fans in Toronto in 2001, the biggest fan train to date.
In 2006, more than 400 Alouettes’ fans attended the team’s crucial 24-20 win over the Argonauts at Rogers Centre in Toronto, allowing the Alouettes to finish ahead of the Argos in the regular season East Division first place race.
