Official release, Montreal – The Montreal Jubilation Choir, Canada’s only world-renowned gospel choir, will perform at halftime when the Alouettes host the Toronto Argonauts on Aug. 2 at Percival Molson Stadium (RDS, TSN, CKAC SPORTS, CJAD, CHOM 97.7).
Founded and directed by Trevor W. Payne in 1982, The Montreal Jubilation Choir is considered as one of the best gospel choirs in the world. The choir has performed all over the world and was the first Canadian gospel choir to win a JUNO award. The choir has produced 10 albums, including their most recent: Jubilation X. Their music style is a combination of African-American spiritual music and African songs. Alouettes’ Alumni and Canadian Football Hall of Fame members Herb Trawick and George Dixon were members of the choir in its inaugural year.
The Montreal Alouettes are always in search of new and original shows for their fans and this will mark the first time the team hosts a gospel choir at halftime. It’s also a first for the troupe, who has never performed at a football game.
