Official release, Montreal – The Montreal Alouettes will honour former guard Pierre Vercheval for his induction to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame last Sept. 14. The celebration will be held before this Sunday’s game against the Edmonton Eskimos (1 p.m.; RDS, TSN, CKAC SPORTS, CJAD).
He will be presented with a painting summarizing his long and successful life in football before the game.
Vercheval played 14 CFL seasons, from 1988 through 2001, playing in 212 regular season games and 13 playoffs matchups. He was a two-time Grey Cup champion with Toronto, in 1996 and in 1997. He played in Montreal from 1998 through 2001.
A seven-time division All-Star, he was also a six-time All-Canadian. In 2000, he was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman.
Vercheval, who currently works as a football analyst for RDS, was inducted to the Panthéon des Sports du Québec in 2006.
