Official release, Montreal – The Montreal Alouettes will host Québécois rock musician Xavier Caféine as the half-time act for this Friday’s season opener against the Saskatchewan Roughriders at 7:30 p.m. at Percival Molson Stadium (RDS, TSN, CKAC SPORTS, CJAD).
Best known as the founder of the rock group Caféine, he played with that band from 1997 through 2002. Following a farewell concert at Café Campus, he then founded Poxy, with whom he played through 2006. He later released a solo album called “Gisèle.”
Caféine has been doing quite well this year, with appearances on Musique Plus and “Tout le Monde en Parle” and in the weekly Voir newspaper. He recently played in front of a full house at the Cabaret Juste pour Rire.
On Friday, he’ll be accompanied by the Alouettes cheerleaders, who will perform a routine while he sings at half-time. “The girls have prepared an exciting routine for our fans, and everyone will have a good time with it,” said Alouettes cheerleading director Annie Larouche.
The Alouettes are expecting a 71st-consecutive sellout at Percival Molson Stadium this Friday. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
