Montreal – Frustrated, disappointed, angered and discouraged are all words that can be used to describe how Alouette slotback Dave Stala was feeling following Saturday night’s 27-9 victory over the visiting Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Going into the game, Stala had missed the entire season due to injury and was excited to experience his first piece of action since last season.
Everything seemed to be going Stala’s way as he and his teammates held a 22-6 lead going into halftime. It wasn’t until the third quarter that trouble finally arrived.
“I heard a pop,” said a disheartened Stala, who was forced to leave the game in the third quarter after re-aggravating his ankle.
With smiles surrounding him in the dressing room, Stala couldn’t help but frown at the fact that he would possibly be forced to miss more game time.
“Everything felt great until the third quarter,” he said. “It’s just extremely frustrating.”
As for the severity of the injury, Stala was uncertain if he would be missing more game time, and the Alouettes’ medical staff will re-evaluate his ankle during the weekend.
“I don’t know how bad I hurt it this time, we’ll see with time,” the receiver said.
Before leaving in the third quarter Stala had caught two passes for a total of 20 yards, and said he felt good doing it.
“I felt great; it’s just very discouraging that it had to happen.”
