Montreal Alouettes Head Coach Marc Trestman has announced the hiring of Jaime Elizondo as the team’s receivers’ coach.
Elizondo spent the past four years as the receivers coach at Hofstra University. In 2005, the Pride passing attack ranked third in the NCAA, division I-AA, and first in the Atlantic 10 with 306.5 yards per game. He coached New Orleans Saints’ receiver Marques Colston and Detroit Lions’ receiver Devale Ellis, both of whom earned all-conference honours with the Pride.
He joined Hofstra after two seasons as the tight ends and special teams coach at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. He began his coaching career at Georgetown Prep High School in Rockville, MD, in August 1998. In January 2000, he became the assistant recruiting coordinator for the University of Maryland football program. He then served as the special teams coordinator and defensive secondary coach at Catholic University in Washington, DC, from August 2001 to July 2002.
