Official release, Montreal – Alouettes linebacker Patrick Dorvélus announced his retirement this morning after six seasons in the CFL – all with Montreal.
“I’m extremely proud of my career with the Alouettes, it has always been an honour for me to be part of this team,” said Patrick Dorvélus. “I’d like to thank my teammates and the organization that gave me my first chance in the CFL. I’d like to thank my family for continued support and the fans for their cheers. I’m very proud of having contributed to a Grey Cup win in my first season.”
Jim Popp thanked Dorvélus for his contribution not only on the field, but also in the community. “Patrick helped the team by taking a leadership role in developing football in Quebec and integrating the team into the community,” said Jim Popp. “We wish him the best of luck in his next career and hope he will continue his community involvement through our alumni program.”
Over his six-year career with the Alouettes, Dorvélus made 15 defensive tackles and 59 special team tackles and scored his first career touchdown on a 45-yard fumble return in 2006.
He was selected in the first round, fifth overall, by the Alouettes in the 2002 Canadian College Draft.
