Official release – The Montreal Alouettes will draft seventh in the first round of the CFL Draft this Wednesday.
Here is a look at the Alouettes’ 2008 draft:

(a) Montreal lost its first-round draft pick for exceeding the salary cap last year. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will get the Alouettes’ draft pick, but at the end of the first round, so eighth overall, which gives the Alouettes the seventh overall pick (see b).
(b) (b) Montreal received Saskatchewan’s 1st and 4th round pick in 2008 along with Ryan Karhut and the rights to a negotiation list player in exchange for its 3rd round pick in 2008, Henri Childs and Brian Jones.
(c) Montreal traded its sixth-round pick in exchange for Mike McMahon.
(d) Montreal received Saskatchewan’s best 6th round pick in exchange for Thyron Anderson.

• The Alouettes have drafted seven Quebec-born players in the first round since 1996, and three in the last four years (Alain Kashama – 2004, Matthieu Proulx – 2005 and Éric Deslauriers – 2006).
• The Alouettes have drafted 19 Quebec-born players since 1996.
• On their current roster, the Alouettes have 16 veterans drafted by the team since 1996.
