VP and General Manager Jim Popp’s comments on the recent story about Shaun Diner’s release in the Montreal Gazette:
“Shaun Diner was informed in February that he would not be part of this
team and we gave him the choice as to how he wanted to handle it.”
“He chose to hire agents to speak for him after that meeting, and on
Mar. 16 – at the CFL Evaluation Camp, his agents asked both myself and
Assistant GM Marcel Desjardins to release Shaun Diner.”
“He was released on Mar. 20, but continued doing community work with our team.”
“Shaun’s agents then called to confirm with us in early-April that he had indeed been released.”
“The accusation that neither Shaun Diner nor his agents knew he was
released until ‘a week before training camp’ are completely false.”
