I hear Bermuda’s nice this time of year…

This past week, I heard a CFL pundit refer to B.C. Place as the Alouettes’ “Bermuda Triangle,” and I thought the analogy made a lot of sense.

More sense than random chance resulting in eight straight years of losses in one arena. Or room temperature, crowd noise, and travel itineraries causing the Ls to stack up.

Maybe all the Als’ troubles in B.C. Place are the results of some bizarre geographic anomaly, some inexplicable confluence of longitude and latitude, barometric pressure, and time zone.

How else do you explain eight years of losses piling up regardless of the teams’ relative records, levels of talent, coaching, or strategies? What else, other than simple fate or cosmic justice, could cause such frustration?

Down here in New Orleans, we had a voodoo priestess perform an exorcism on the Superdome once, and the Saints went to the playoffs the next season. Maybe Als fans could band together and hire some leader in the field of paranormal science to sneak into B.C. Place to perform a few experiments.

At the very minimum, testing might identify the exact spots on the field where vortexes are jamming communications, causing turnovers, and setting up force fields that protect kick returners wearing orange from being tackled.

Maybe the correct scientific equipment could detect the presence of ghosts from past losses, and once these specters are located, they could be placed in some containment devices and removed from the area.

Who knows? A little psychic cleansing might be all it would take to turn the Als’ fortunes around out in B.C.

That, or the team could continue to play harder, improve on its performances, cut back on turnovers and mental errors, and kick a little more Lion butt next time…
