Montreal – The unfortunate thing about winning streaks is that at some point in time they all must come to end.
The Alouettes (7-3-0), however, have done an exceptional job in keeping theirs alive so far and will look to do the same this Friday night as they travel to Calgary to visit the Stampeders (10 p.m. EST, RDS, TSN, CKAC SPORTS, CJAD).

Heading into their Week 12 matchup against the Stamps (6-4-0), the Alouettes are currently riding a five-game winning streak that dates back to late July.
By collecting wins against the Lions, Blue Bombers ,Tiger-Cats and two against the Argonauts, Marc Trestman and his troops have found themselves alone at the top of the East Division, six points ahead of the second place Argos, whom they beat handily last week at Percival Molson Stadium. Quarterback Anthony Calvillo continued his exceptional season completing 36 passes for 369 yards and three touchdowns, while the defence did the rest, racking up three turnovers in the win. With the win, the Als had the potential to not only sit atop the East Division, but the entire league. A late Roughriders comeback-win against the Bombers in the Banjo Bowl, however, prevented them from doing so and they remain the CFL’s second-ranked club. The Als have been recognized for their play against East Division teams, going a perfect 6-0-0 on the season so far, but have yet to be acknowledged as a league-wide force due to their lack of production against teams from the West. Having come out on top in just one of their five games against West Division opponents so far, the Als will look to collect their second-straight victory against a Western team as they make their sole visit of the year to Calgary on Friday. |
After missing last game due to an ankle injury, running back Avon Cobourne’s status is still questionable for Friday’s matchup. Should the running back not be able to suit up against the Stampeders, Mike Imoh will likely make his second-consecutive start next to Calvillo in the backfield.
Last week saw the Virginia Tech product run for 75 yards on just 12 carries, adequately filling in for Cobourne, who is still second in the CFL with 815 yards and five majors on 122 carries.
The Stamps find themselves as the meat in a very tight West Division sandwich.
With the league-leading Roughriders four points ahead and the BC Lions just two points behind, this week’s matchup has big meaning for a Calgary team that is currently tied with the Eskimos in the middle of the pack.
The Alouettes will face the Stampeders at Calgary’s McMahon Stadium this Friday night at 10 p.m. EST (RDS, TSN, CKAC SPORTS, CJAD).
