Montreal – It’s looking as if the 2008 Alouette season can be summed up by the classic story or Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
Heading into their Week 12 matchup against the Edmonton Eskimos (7-4-0) at home, Alouettes head coach Marc Trestman continues to look for answers to his team’s struggles against the West Division.

In their less-than-stellar performance last week in Calgary, the Alouettes (7-4-0) played out the script which has seen them win just one contest against the West, going 1-5-0 so far on the season.
Last week saw the Alouettes’ offence stall and with it, their five-game win streak come to a halt. Quarterback Anthony Calvillo threw three interceptions to go with his 309 passing yards in the loss, while Calgary’s Henry Burris outclassed an unusually unstable Alouette defence, throwing five touchdowns to five different receivers in addition to passing for 408 yards in a 41-30 win at home. Unlike their most recent win coming against the Argonauts, the Alouettes found themselves lost without their top offensive weapon in Avon Cobourne. Cobourne, who is again questionable for Montreal’s matchup with the Eskimos, missed his second game in a row last week nursing an injured ankle. Mike Imoh replaced Cobourne in the backfield for the second time in as many games, providing some explosiveness to the Alouettes, but not enough to lead the team to a win. Historically, the odds aren’t in the Alouettes favour – they are 1-3-0 against the Eskimos since 2006, including two consecutive losses at home. This week’s matchup marks the first of two between these teams this year, the next being on the final week of the CFL season at Edmonton’s Commonwealth Stadium.
