Montreal, Nov. 20, 2008 – The Canadian Football League announced today that quarterback Anthony Calvillo has been named the league’s Most Outstanding Player for the 2008 season, while guard Scott Flory has been named the league’s Most Outstanding Lineman.
Anthony Calvillo
The 2003 CFL Most Outstanding Player and 2002 and 2004 East Division MOP, Calvillo has had the comeback season of the year. He was among the best pivots in the CFL, completing 472 of his 682 passes for 5,633 yards and 43 touchdowns against just 13 interceptions in 17 games.
The 472 completions and the 43 touchdown passes are both Alouettes’ team records.
Scott Flory
The 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2008 East Division Most Outstanding Lineman, Flory has long been
the leader of Montreal’s offensive line.
Already a six-time CFL All-Star (2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008) he has been named an East Division All-Star on seven occasions, in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.
The Alouettes’ offensive line had its best season since the team re-joined the CFL in 1996, allowing just 22 sacks and helping set a franchise record with 610 points scored.
