Montreal, Dec. 9, 2008 – Montreal Alouettes’ Vice President and General Manager Jim Popp is pleased to announce that rush end Anwar Stewart has signed a new contract with the team for one year plus an option.
Stewart (6’2’’, 251 lbs.) joined the Alouettes in 2002, winning the Grey Cup in his first year with the team. Named the CFL’s top defensive player in 2004, Stewart was once again on top of his game in 2008, making 27 defensive tackles plus four on special teams, and one tackle for a loss on top of registering four quarterback sacks, five knockdowns and a 19-yard interception return.
