Cn Adopt An Alouette In Sherbrooke

Montreal, Jan. 26, 2009 – Following visits to Quebec City, Chicoutimi and La Tuque in 2007, and the Gaspésie region in 2008, the CN Adopt an Alouette program is reaching out to the Sherbrooke area this year with three players and a pair of cheerleaders visiting this week.

Étienne Boulay, Danny Desriveaux and Anwar Stewart, as well as cheerleaders Élizabeth and Ève-Lyne, left this morning for Sherbrooke where they will visit area schools to discuss the importance of education and share their life experiences with students.

The Alouettes will spend four days in Sherbrooke, using the morning sessions to visit classes and the afternoons to visit with those schools’ varsity teams and cheerleading squads. All told, the Alouettes will reach out to seven schools and roughly 1,500 students during this important tour.

Since its beginnings in 1998, the CN Adopt an Alouette program has reached over 450,000 students all over the province of Quebec. More than 20 players follow a rigorous 20-hour training program with a psychologist before heading out to schools in order to ensure only the highest level of communication and interaction with the students.
