Montreal, May 2, 2009 – The Montreal Alouettes selected offensive lineman Dylan Steenbergen of the University of Calgary Dinos with their first pick in the first round, seventh overall, of the 2009 CFL Canadian Draft, held this morning.
The Alouettes followed up their opening pick with long-snapper Martin Bédard of the Connecticut Huskies, making him the first of three Québécois players chosen by the team this year.
“We are very happy with our choices, especially to get a quality player like Steenbergen with our first pick. We’ve added depth across the board, and we’re especially happy to be able to add three Quebec-born talents to our roster,” said Vice President and GM Jim Popp following the draft.
