The Alouettes remain undefeated

Montreal – Trailing by six midway through the second quarter and with his team unable to produce much offensively at the time, Alouettes quarterback Anthony Calvillo took it upon himself to make something happen.
The 16-year CFL vet did what he does best, connecting with receiver Jamel Richardson for a 48-yard touchdown, his sixth TD pass of the season to put the Als in front for good.
And the rest was history.
With that pass, Calvillo left yet another mark in the record books as he passed the legendary Ron Lancaster for second place in career regular season touchdown passes with 334 en route to a 21-8 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Calvillo had a stellar day at the office, completing 77 per cent of his passes for 404 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Just over three minutes after his record-breaker, Calvillo logged his 335th career touchdown pass, hitting Brian Bratton for an 18-yard score to put the Als ahead by eight.
Working on both sides of the ball…
For the first time this season, the Als defence managed to hold the opposition to exactly zero touchdowns. In fact, Hamilton’s net yardage was just seven yards more than Calvillo’s numbers alone.
Add an outstanding long-range interception by Étienne Boulay, and all in all, it was a great night for the defence as well.
On special teams, kicker Damon Duval was busy yet again, connecting on two of his three field goals, the longest coming from 47 yards out.
Hamilton quarterback Quinton Porter’s outing was far less impressive than his first meeting against the Als last season.
The second-year pivot left the game with an injury after going 12/21 with an interception in the first half.
The Alouettes will next face the Eskimos at Edmonton’s Commonwealth Stadium on Thursday, July 30 at 9 pm. (RDS HD, TSN HD, CKAC SPORTS, CJAD 800 AM, 98.5).
