Montreal, Sept. 2, 2009 – The CFL announced today that free safety Matthieu Proulx has been named the league’s Canadian Player of the Month for August.
Proulx registered four interceptions last month, including a pair in the Alouettes 34-25 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders at Montreal’s Percival Molson Stadium on aug. 21. On top of his four picks, he notched seven defensive tackles as well as five more on special teams. He also forced a fumble against the Blue Bombers in Winnipeg last Aug. 15.
The Alouettes’ top rookie in 2005, this is Proulx’s first selection as Canadian Player of the Month. He was also named the top Canadian for Week 8, following the win over Saskatchewan.
The Alouettes will next face the Lions at Vancouver’s BC Place this Friday, Sept. 4 at 10:30 p.m. (RDSHD, TSNHD, CKAC SPORTS, CJAD 800 AM)
