Montreal, Nov. 11, 2009 – The Canadian Football League announced today its 2009 East Division All-Stars, with 17 Montreal Alouettes being selected. Montreal’s 2009 total is the highest total of All-Star selections for one team in league history, with the Als (2004) and BC Lions (2007) sharing the second-highest total of 15 each
The division All-Stars were selected by 62 voters, including members of the Football Reporters of Canada and CFL head coaches as well as fans from across the country through the CFL.ca All-Star Balloting program.
The Alouettes encourage their fans to vote for their favourite players as the CFL.ca All-Star Balloting program reopens today for the selection of the 2009 league-wide All-Stars. Fans can vote at www.cflallstars.com.
Quarterback: Anthony Calvillo (7th selection – 2000, 2002-2004, 2006, 2008)
396/550 (72 per cent*), 4,639 yards, 26* touchdown passes, six* interceptions, 108.4* quarterback rating.
Running back: Avon Cobourne (2nd selection – 2008)
15* touchdowns including 13* rushing, 224 carries, 1,214 yards (5.4 avg.), 56 receptions, 458 yards, 1,672 yards from scrimmage, eight touchdowns.
Receiver: Jamel Richardson (2nd selection – 2008)
