Following an extremely successful season with the Concordia Stingers in 2007 during which he led the Quebec conference with over 1,000 combined yards, running back Andrew Hamilton joined the Alouettes.
After spending most of the season on the practice roster, Hamilton has since moved on from pro football and is working on finishing his degree and a fledgling music career. MonrealAlouettes.com caught up with Hamilton…
What was it like joining the Alouettes?
Being on the practice roster and joining the Montreal Alouettes was something that I will forever be proud of. Growing up, everybody wishes that they could play for their hometown team. It was a real honour being a part of the organization.
What was the most important lesson you learned in pro football?
I learned quite a few things being a professional athlete. Being an athlete, you cannot control everything – all you can do is control is yourself. Being on time, being where you are supposed to be and doing what you are supposed to be doing can take you along way.
What have you been doing since?
I am currently going to McGill University trying to finish my degree and play out my three years of CIS eligibility. I will be playing football and running track & field for the Redmen this season.
How has the music industry been treating you?
Music is going well… I released my first album this year. My artist name is Hones-t (“honesty”) and the album is called A.H. You can get the album on Itunes or any other online music store.
