Montreal, May 18, 2010 – Former Alouette slotback S.J. Green was released by the New York Jets on Tuesday. He now has 10 days to be claimed by or to sign with another NFL team; if not, he will be back with the Alouettes this season.
Green (6’2”, 216 lbs) has already contacted Alouettes VP and General Manager Jim Popp about returning with the team for the 2010 season. Should he not move on to another NFL team, he would be present at the beginning of training camp this June 6 at Bishop’s University in Lennoxville.
On the option year of his contact, he signed with the Jets last January.
He recorded 238 yards and two touchdowns on 15 receptions in 2009. He enjoyed his best game of the season on July 9 against the Eskimos, in which he registered 113 receiving yards and a touchdown while starting for the injured Jamel Richardson.
