MONTREALGAZETTE.COM – WINNIPEG— For many Montreal Alouettes, it was their first game in the Canadian Football League. And, given the circumstances, it might have been their last as well. Playing only a week after training camp began, the Als were disorganized and disjointed throughout much of the game. Of course, training camp began at the same time for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers but the home team had little difficulty defeating Montreal, 34-10, Sunday afternoon as the teams opened their exhibition schedule before 28,792 spectators at Canad Inns Stadium.

Chris Leak completed 21 of 32 pass attempts for 181 yards and a touchdown… Avon Cobourne’s younger brother, Patrick, returned two punts for 45 yards, including one for 39 yards… Tim Maypray scored the Alouettes’ only major of the day on a 24-yard pass from Leak… Maypray led the Als with 46 yards and a score on three catches.
