Montreal, Oct. 13, 2010 – If this week’s Player of the Week awards are any indication, the Alouettes certainly left their mark on Week 15. Quarterback Anthony Calvillo, defensive end Anwar Stewart and kicker Colt David were respectively named the CFL’s Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Week.
Anthony Calvillo – Offensive Player of the Week
Calvillo threw two touchdown passes to receiver Brian Bratton and completed 28-of-38 passes for 395 yards in the Alouettes’ 46-21 win over the Stampeders. Calvillo needs just 33 completions to become the second player in CFL history to reach 5,000 in a career.
Anwar Stewart – Defensive Player of the Week
In a game that saw the Alouettes defence excel against the Stampeders, it was Stewart leading the way with two sacks, two defensive tackles, one forced fumble, one knockdown and a fumble recovery. The two sacks against Calgary quarterback Henry Burris were the 58th and 59th of his career. Stewart is currently tied for fifth in the CFL with six sacks.
Colt David – Special Teams Player of the Week
In his first career game, David connected on all six of his field goal attempts including a 46-yarder and added four converts for a total of 22 points in relief for injured kicker Damon Duval.
The Alouettes will face the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Percival Molson Stadium this Sunday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. (RDSHD, TSNHD, NRJ, CJAD 800).
