Orlando, FL – The Alouettes’ coaching staff, along with the majority of the team’s players, got back on the field Wednesday for the first time since claiming their seventh Grey Cup last November. The team, currently in Orlando, is holding a three-day Mini-Camp consisting of light training and workouts under the hot Florida sun.

Today was the first day of the Mini-Camp, which ends Friday, and while the players spent the majority of the day in meetings with the coaching staff, they did get the opportunity to jump on the field twice to practise the plays they had studied.
Although no footballs were thrown during the sessions, nor was there any contact, given that the players were not wearing their equipment, the first day of camp did not go unappreciated by Marc Trestman’s men.
“It feels great to be able to get our minds back on football and to start familiarizing ourselves with the playbook,” said receiver Kerry Watkins. “It gives us a good idea of what the coaching staff has in store for us at training camp,” added the New Orleans native.
Brothers reunited
From the start of off-season until today, the Alouettes’ players have each been training their own separate ways, and were therefore pleased to once again find the atmosphere that reigned supreme last season.
“It’s great for the team’s camaraderie,” said last year’s Grey Cup MVP Jamel Richardson. “We’re beginning our journey to the Grey Cup earlier than ever, and I think it’s great.”
“These guys are like my family, so it feels good to be able to see my brothers again,” added Richardson in reference to his fellow receivers.
The Als will be back on the field Thursday and Friday.
