Montreal, June 30, 2011 – The Montreal Alouettes received a warm welcome from the 22 317 cheering fans who came out to support their favorite team under cloudy skies at a cool but dry Percival Molson Stadium Thursday evening. The game marked the first time that the Alouettes took to the football field for an in-season contest since winning the Grey Cup in 2010.

Quarterback Anthony Calvillo tossed three touchdown passes in the Alouettes’ 30-26 win over the B.C. Lions and showed no ill-effects from his off-season thyroid surgery.
Receiver S.J. Green played well, filling in nicely for recently retired and longtime-incumbent Ben Cahoon at the slotback position, while John Bowman and Diamond Ferri each recorded a single sack in the game.
Calvillo excelled in the passing game, completing 22 of 30 attempts for 312 yards and Jamel Richardson showed once again why he is arguably the best receiver in the CFL, finding the end zone twice on long scoring plays from 46 and 40 yards out.
The Alouettes’ defence also limited the Lions’ offence to a meagre 60 yards rushing.
Canadian kicker Sean Whyte faced his former team for the first time since being traded during the off-season and had a solid debut with the Alouettes, connecting on three field goal attempts, including one from 48-yards out, after hitting the uprights early.
Player of the Game
Last year’s Grey Cup MVP, Jamel Richardson, was named the Player of the Game following his 162-yard, two-touchdown performance.
Injury
Defensive back Jerald Brown suffered an ankle injury in the first quarter and did not return. He will undergo further testing.
2010 Squad Honoured
The 2010 Grey Cup Champions were honoured during a pre-game ceremony which saw a a seventh championship banner raised behind the bleachers located at the stadium’s east side.
