Montreal, June 30, 2011 – The Montreal Alouettes’ Vice President and General Manager, Jim Popp, is pleased to announce that the team has extended the contract of non-import linebacker Shea Emry.

Emry (6’00, 200 lbs.), has signed a new two-year, plus an option, deal with the Alouettes.
Since arriving in Montreal in 2008, the Richmond, BC native has played in the Grey Cup in each of his three seasons with the team, helping his teammates win the trophy in 2009 and 2010 while also becoming a starter in only his second year with the Alouettes. In 18 games last season, the team’s first round pick in the 2008 draft (7th overall) registered 58 tackles, 1 sack and 1 interception.
“Shea is as good as anyone playing middle linebacker in the CFL right now. What an outstanding young man, athlete and role model for any youngster to follow. The Alouettes are proud to have Shea continue his career in Montreal,” said Popp of the 25 year old linebacker.
Emry and his teammates kicked-off the 2011 season with a 30 to 26 win over the BC Lions on Thursday night, at Percival Molson Stadium. They will face the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Regina next Saturday at 4 p.m. in a rematch of the last two Grey Cup games.
