Montreal, July 5, 2011 – Montreal Alouettes star receiver Jamel Richardson wasted no time stealing the spotlight from his peers across the league as he was named the CFL’s Offensive Player of the Week following the opening week of the 2011 campaign.
Richardson played a significant role in insuring the Alouettes’ season opening 30-26 win last Thursday at Molson Percival Stadium against the B.C. Lions, sparking the team’s offence early on. His two touchdowns, from 40 and 46 yards out, set the tone for Montreal.
After one week of play, Richardson leads the CFL in receiving yards with 162 and is tied for first place with nine receptions.
Next Game
The Alouettes will travel to Saskatchewan later this week, as they prepare to take on the Roughriders at Mosaic Stadium Saturday afternoon (TSN HD, RDS HD, CJAD, Sirius 157, CKAC). Kick-off is scheduled at 4:00 p.m. (EST).
