Montreal, July 11, 2011 – Following his brilliant performance in Saskatchewan Saturday afternoon, where he threw for five touchdown passes while leading the Alouettes to a 39-25 victory over the Roughriders, quarterback Anthony Calvillo is now just a single touchdown pass away from breaking Damon Allen’s record and taking sole possession of first place in CFL history for most career touchdown passes thrown.

Calvillo will have the chance to break the record this Friday in front of his fans at home as the Montreal-Toronto rivalry renews for the 2011 season when the Alouettes (2-0), who are perfect so far this year, host the Toronto Argonauts (1-1) at Percival Molson Stadium.
The Alouettes quarterback is also just 3,489 passing yards away from breaking Allen’s record for total career CFL passing yards, a mark which he could also eclipse this season.
However, in addition to the spectacle that promises to unfold on the field this Friday, Alouettes fans will also have reason to cheer come half-time, as the CFL’s all-time leading receiver Ben Cahoon will be honoured during a special ceremony.
Cahoon, who holds the record for most career CFL receptions will be back in Montreal for the first time since retiring this past winter.
The non-import receiver hung up his cleats in 2010 after helping the Alouettes win two consecutive Grey Cup Championships. He spent his entire 13-year career in Montreal, and retired with three Grey Cup rings on his fingers (2002, 2009 and 2010).
Cahoon also holds a number of team records, including his Alouettes-leading 13,301 reception yards and 65 touchdowns. Over the course of his 13-year career, Ben has played in 224 games.
Furthermore, Cahoon was named the Most Valuable Canadian twice at the Grey Cup, once in 2003 and once in 2009. He is the all-time leader for both Grey Cup receptions and Grey Cup yards, having recorded 47 and 666 respectively.
