Montreal, July 22, 2011 – The Montreal Alouettes and VIA Rail Canada are pleased to announce the return of the Fan Train for the 2011 season.

A fan-favourite event since its debut in 1998 and back for a 14th consecutive year, the Fan Train presented by VIA Rail Canada allows fans to get closer to the Alouettes’ stars during a road game.
Having traveled to Toronto and Ottawa in years prior, the 2011 iteration of the Fan Train is set to take-off for Hamilton as the Alouettes face the Tiger-Cats at Ivor Wynne Stadium on Labour Day Monday, September 5.
For $299, taxes included, fans will receive one round-trip train ticket to Hamilton and one ticket to the game, located within the reserved Alouettes fan section, which every year, with crowds in excess of 300 fans, proves to be a little corner of Percival Molson Stadium on the road.
The Alouettes cheerleaders will accompany fans to the game on the train leaving Montreal’s Central Station on the morning of the event. Following the game however, it will be the Alouettes players who will board the train alongside the Montreal faithful, and fans will be able to mingle with their favourite Alouettes stars, taking pictures and collecting autographs on the ride home.
New to the team in 2011 after having signed as a free agent during the off-season, all-star cornerback Dwight Anderson is already looking forward to the experience.
“I’ve already heard a lot about it from some of the guys in the locker room,” said the 2010 CFL All-Star, who after three regular-season games this year leads the Alouettes in defensive tackles. “We’ve got the best fans in the league in Montreal, and I can’t wait to meet them in person.”
Tickets for the Fan Train are on sale now and can be purchased by calling the Montreal Alouettes Ticket Office at 514-871-2255, although spots are limited.
A full event itinerary, including boarding and departure times will be released at a later date.
