Montreal, September 9, 2011 – This year’s Walk for ALS in Montreal will be held at Parc Maisonneuve on Saturday, September 10 at 11:35 a.m. and hundreds of supporters, including many Alouettes players, are expected to show up to take part in the event.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to be involved in this important cause since its beginning,” said veteran Alouettes guard Scott Flory, who has been part of every iteration of the walk over the past three years. “Initially it was to raise awareness about ALS, but now we also use the walk to commemorate the life of Tony Proudfoot.”
Certain veterans are expected to be present after their team meetings Saturday morning.
“We managed to move our meetings up from their initial time to ensure that our guys could get the opportunity to assist in this great event, which shows just how important Tony was to the organization,” said Flory of the former Alouettes player and broadcaster, who was an inspiration to all.
In 2007, it was revealed that Proudfoot was suffering from Lou Gehrig’s disease, a progressive, neurodegenerative disease otherwise known as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. Following his diagnosis, he devoted both his time and his energy to raising money and awareness about the condition.
“I am proud to have called him my friend. Anything that we can do to honour this great man and raise funds for this cause is something that means a lot to many people.”
To date, over $600,000 has been raised by the Tony Proudfoot Fund. Your presence would be greatly appreciated and the Alouettes look forward to seeing you out in numbers.
