MONTREAL – Running back Brandon Whitaker has been named the CFL’s Offensive Player of the Week after another strong outing, in leading the Alouettes to a 34-21 victory over the Eskimos on Friday. His combined 177 yards – 113 on the ground and 64 through the air – were good enough to earn him the league’s nod for the second time this season.
The CFL’s leading rusher with 906 yards on the ground accounted for 18 of the Alouettes’ 34 points on Friday. The Edmond, Oklahoma native was Anthony Calvillo’s target for two 23-yard touchdown strikes early in the second, and also rushed for a third late in the game, putting it out of reach for the Esks.
