WINNIPEG – On a windy autumn afternoon at Canad Inns Stadium in Winnipeg, the Montreal Alouettes trail the Blue Bombers 10-9 after 30 minutes of football.
With the wind being a key factor in the game, kicker Sean Whyte has been the star for Montreal so far, connecting on all three of his field goal attempts. Whyte has accounted for all nine Montreal points, hitting the mark from of 37, 34 and 26 yards out respectively.
The Blue Bombers scored a major on their opening drive after Buck Pierce connected on a 7-yard touchdown strike with Greg Carr. Kicker Justin Palardy added a single following a missed field goal to give his team a 8-6 lead after the first quarter.
Anthony Calvillo threw two consecutive interceptions in the first quarter, completing five of 19 passes for 66 yards after two quarters.
S.J. Green reached his first 1,000-yard season in the CFL following an 11-yard catch in the second quarter.
League-leading rusher Brandon Whitaker continues to play a pivotal role on offense, generating 66 yards on nine carries after two quarters.
A win by the Alouettes would secure first place in the contested Eastern Division and guarantee a first round bye in the playoffs.

Fresh off of his tenth 100-yard game of the season last week, Jamel Richardson saw his league-leading receiving yards total jump to 1,574 after 30 minutes of play in Winnipeg. Those impressive numbers give him a shot at the team record of 1,914 yards set by Hal Patterson in 1956, fifth all-time in the CFL.
“That would be big,” said Richardson on the thought of becoming the Alouettes’ all-time leading receiver. “I came in here with goal to lead the league in receiving yards and right now it’s coming through. Hopefully I can put a couple of more games together and go and get that team record. I am gunning for 2,000 yards.”
