MONTREAL – Quarterback Anthony Calvillo was named the CFL’s Offensive Player of the Week, following his memorable performance during Sunday’s CFL Eastern Semi-Final, a 52-44 overtime loss to Hamilton in the highest scoring game in CFL playoff history.
Calvillo had his most explosive game of the 2011 season, with the 39-year-old pivot completing 30-of-42 attempts for an incredible 513 yards and three touchdown passes. Calvillo’s passing yardage marked the second-highest single-game total in playoff history and was only five yards shy of the CFL record of 518 set by Tony Curcillo of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats back in 1956.
This is the fifth time Calvillo has earned the CFL’s Player of the Week award in 2011 as he led the league with 5,251 passing yards during the regular season. Calvillo is also the East Division’s nominee for the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player award this season.
