VANCOUVER – The Alouettes’ Josh Bourke was named the league’s Most Outstanding Lineman at the CFL Player Awards in Vancouver.

Bourke was the anchor of the Alouettes’ offensive line, playing an integral role in producing the league’s leading passer, receiver and rusher this season, a first in CFL history. Bourke’s ability to protect Anthony Calvillo’s blind side provided his veteran quarterback with a clean pocket to locate his receivers down the field and lead the league in passing yards and touchdown passes.
The Windsor, Ontario, native’s run-blocking prowess was a major factor in first-year starting running back Brandon Whitaker going on to lead all CFL rushers with 1,381 yards in 2011. A first-time winner of the league’s Most Outstanding Lineman Award, Bourke also helped the Als’ O-Line allow only 34 sacks on the season, good for second-fewest in the CFL in 2011.
