MONTREAL – Montreal Alouettes General Manager, Jim Popp, announced today that the team has retained the services of non-import linebacker Marc-Olivier Brouillette, non-import tackle Josh Bourke, import defensive back Billy Parker and import receiver Brandon London. All four players signed two-year contracts with the club.
Brouillette (6’0’’, 230 lbs.) scored his first-career CFL touchdown on a 72-yard run resulting from a fake punt on October 30, 2011 versus Calgary. The Alouettes’ third-round draft pick recorded 21 defensive tackles and nine special teams tackles in nine games last season. The 25-year-old quarterback turned linebacker also saw time at safety for the Alouettes in 2011.
Bourke (6’7’’, 315 lbs.) was named the CFL’s 2011 Most Outstanding Lineman for the first time in his five-year career. The Windsor, Ontario native’s ability to protect quarterback Anthony Calvillo‘s blind side helped the Alouettes rank first in points scored, passing yards and points scored per game last season. Bourke earned his second consecutive nomination as the Alouettes’ Most Outstanding Lineman and was part of an offensive line which allowed only 34 sacks, tied for the second fewest in the league in 2011.
London (6’4’’, 210 lbs.) enjoyed his best season in 2011, posting career-high numbers in receptions with 38 and in receiving yards with 475. London recorded his first-career touchdown catch on a 15-yard strike from Anthony Calvillo on September 11, 2011 against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. His season was highlighted by a spectacular one-handed catch near the sidelines from Adrian McPherson against the Eskimos on the road on September 23, 2011.
Parker (6’0″, 195 lbs.) co-lead the Alouettes, along with Chip Cox, with three interceptions in 2011. Parker also recovered two fumbles which he returned for a total of 20 yards. The 30 year-old was second on the team with 55 tackles in 2011 and now has a career total of 143.
