MONTREAL – The Montreal Alouettes and the CFL on Tuesday unveiled their new jerseys designed by Reebok to be worn by the players beginning this upcoming season.
In celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Grey Cup, Reebok has redesigned the jerseys of each the league’s eight teams. Offered a sneak peek at their new duds, Alouettes players liked what saw. While the Alouettes have sported different looks over the years, the new sleek-yet-traditional home jersey was an instant hit with star running back Brandon Whitaker.
“These new jerseys are sweet,” admitted Whitaker. “It’s always fun to wear something new and I can’t wait to put them on this year. I think the guys on the team will enjoy the new look and the fans will as well.”

Montreal’s design stayed true to years past as the Alouettes remained loyal to their traditional burgundy and blue colour scheme. Among the most visible changes to the uniform, players were mostly excited about having their team name stretch across the chest on their home jerseys to mirror the “MONTRÉAL” that adorns their road ones.
“I love the fact that we have now have the word ALOUETTES on the front,” revealed Jamel Richardson while sporting the new look uniform at a recent photo shoot. “The name is in your face and everybody in the league is going to see who is coming after them for a full 60 minutes.”
Smaller tweaks include the addition of silver piping running along the side of both jerseys, the elimination of sleeve striping, and a single-colour collar.
Both the media and fans will get a first glimpse of the players in their new home uniforms when the Alouettes host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Friday, July 6 at Percival Molson Stadium. The Alouettes will be playing both preseason games in white.
While the league-wide new uniforms varied in their level of overhaul, they all are made with identical new technology that makes them lighter, dryer and more comfortable to accommodate the players. The new generation model features several improvements over its predecessor, including enhanced elasticity, moisture resistance, and greater range of motion.
“The material feels really light and I really like the fact that the jerseys are more fitted when I put on my shoulder pads,” said defensive end, John Bowman. “My hat goes off to those guys who look to constantly improve the way we play the game of football. These technological advances are pretty cool.”
The Alouettes players are not the only ones who will see an upgrade to their jerseys. Reebok and the Alouettes wanted to offer a new version of the fan jersey that is as close as possible to those worn on the field.
The new Premier replica jersey is now available to Alouettes fans everywhere by visiting the Red Zone, the official online store of the Montreal Alouettes, at RedZone.MontrealAlouettes.com. The jerseys will also be available at Capsule Sportive retail stores across Quebec beginning on Wednesday, May 2.
