MONTREAL – The Montreal Alouettes will begin their 2012 training camp on Sunday June 3 at 8:00 a.m. For the third consecutive year, the team will hold all workouts and practices on Coulter Field at Bishop’s University in the borough of Lennoxville in Sherbrooke.
Just like during the regular season, all practices during training camp will be open to the public. The 2012 training camp schedule will be available soon on MontrealAlouettes.com. Up to 75 players will report to camp with the final roster being announced on Saturday June 23. The team will leave Bishop’s on June 17.
The club will play two pre-season games: June 14 in Montreal at Percival Molson Stadium against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at 7:30 p.m. and on June 19 at noon against the Toronto Argonauts at the Rogers Center.
The Alouettes will kick-off their regular season on July 1 when they travel to Calgary to face the Stampeders. The Alouettes will host their first game of the 2012 season at Percival Molson Stadium the following week when they face the Blue Bombers on Friday, July 6 at 7:00 p.m.
Quinlan to attend camp
Among the rookies who will be on hand for training camp is non-import quarterback, Kyle Quinlan, who signed a two-year deal with the Alouettes yesterday.
Quinlan (6’3″, 215 lbs.) led the McMaster University Marauders to the 2011 Vanier Cup championship for the first time in the school’s history and was named the game’s MVP following his remarkable performance. Under the lights at B.C. Place Stadium, he completed 36-of-55 pass attempts for 482 yards and two touchdowns while adding 106 yards rushing in a thrilling 41-38 double overtime victory over the Laval Rouge et Or in the national title game.
The 23-year-old native of South Woodslee, Ont. showcased his accuracy in 2011, completing close to 65 per cent of his passes while throwing for 13 touchdowns passes with only two interceptions.
