SHERBROOKE – Here we go again.
The road to the 2012 season got a lot shorter today, as the Alouettes held their opening day of training camp 132 km away from Montreal in picturesque Sherbrooke, Quebec.

And despite the inclement whether – the day’s two practices were moved away from the campus of Bishop’s University and indoors to the Centre MultiSport Roland-Dussault — Mother Nature was unable to dampen the spirits of the 150-odd fans who made the trek from Montreal and its regions.
Despite holding the distinction of being home to one of the longest off-seasons in pro sports, the Alouettes showed no signs of rust following their seven-month layoff, thrilling fans who packed the cramped quarters of the downtown-Sherbrooke fieldhouse with highlight-reel plays right from the start of the morning session.
Of note was receiver Brandon London’s spectacular one-handed grab, reminiscent of his show-stopping catch last September on an Edmonton sideline, while a healthy Dwight Anderson spent the morning breaking up plays on every inch of the field, playing like the cornerback fans had probably imagined when the 30-year-old signed with the team a year ago.
The Alouettes will be back on the field tomorrow morning from 7:50 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. and from 10:35 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. as Day 2 of training camp resumes in Sherbrooke. As always, both practices will be open to the public, and fans who wish to consult the full practice schedule can do so by clicking here.
In the case of rain, which is expected, practices will again be moved indoors to the Centre MultiSport Roland-Dussault (350 rue Terrill).
NOTES: The Alouettes roster counted no less than 12 (!) quarterbacks on Sunday, as the team was joined by QBs from all six RSEQ teams, as well as one from the Ottawa Gee Gees … The guest quarterbacks will be joined by the head coaches of their respective teams tomorrow, and the latter will be able to attend the day’s two practices, as well a Q&A and film review session with the Alouettes coaching staff … Josh Bourke, who suffered a torn pectoral muscle at the end of the 2011 season, passed his medical prior to the day’s practices, but was sidelined by a hamstring injury.
