LENNOXVILLE – Brandon London has steadily improved since joining the Montreal Alouettes two seasons ago, and 2012 is shaping up to be an even bigger coming out party for the determined receiver.

“I’ve been working my tail off ever since landing in Montreal,” explained London who is expecting to see more playing time this coming season.”I’m not the fastest guy out there, so I rely on my height and body position to make tough catches. At this point, it’s really all about elevating my game to become an elite receiver in this league like my teammates Jamel Richardson, S.J. Green and Brian Bratton.”
While London remains on the right track, he understands that the trust factor between he and Anthony Calvillo must continue to flourish at camp in order to translate into success this season.
“Now in my third year with the team, I’m just focused on getting on the same page as AC,” admitted the 27-year-old. “I want him to be able to trust me and look in my direction when we are in a tough situation out on the field. That’s what I’m working on during this training camp.”
With a strong command of the offensive playbook, London has emerged as a key cog in the Alouettes’ offensive schemes, working closely with newly appointed offensive coordinator, Marcus Brady.
“We spoke a lot during the offseason,” explained the native of Richmond, VA. “It helps that he was the Alouettes’ receivers coach for the past three years. He understands each and every one of the receivers and knows how to utilize our strengths to put us in the best position possible to make plays.”
It sure didn’t take long for London to prove his point making reference to a spectacular grab that he made during the first day of camp.
“I ran a deep route down the sideline, juggled the ball and finally came down with it with a defender right on my back. I’m guessing it was pretty spectacular since even the Alouettes tweeted about it,” said London with a laugh.
It also doesn’t hurt his cause that London lives and breathes the game.
“Being the son of a coach, I was born with a football in my crib,” admitted London with a smile. “I started playing flag football at the age of five and I’ve been playing the game I love ever since.”
