LENNOXVILLE – With Montreal’s 2012 training camp winding down, the Alouettes were back in shoulder pads at Coulter Field under the hot sun Saturday, putting the final tweaks in before their second preseason game against the Toronto Argonauts on June 19 at the Rogers Centre.
With only one practice remaining before the end of camp, the veterans saw extensive playing time this morning. While a lot of new faces and rookies will make the trip to Toronto in hope of cracking the final roster, time is of the essence.
Key players from the Alouettes are expected to take the field next week, but will likely be on the sidelines by the time the first quarter ends.
“Anthony Calvillo will start the game in Toronto and Adrian McPherson will come in at some point,” admitted head coach Marc Trestman. “I don’t know how many reps both will get as of now, but they will both be playing.”
Notes: Wide receiver Brandon London worked out on the sidelines and ran a few sprints during practice. “I honestly feel good,” explained London after falling awkwardly on his neck during the preseason opener against Winnipeg on June 14. “I have no signs of a concussion, no nausea, so that’s good news. I’m doing strenuous exercises to see if I can handle it. If all goes well, I should be in the lineup for the start of the regular season.” … John Bowman was also in attendance today walking and testing his knee. “I’m already ahead of schedule,” admitted Bowman who had surgery on Wednesday. “I’m able to put some pressure on it and walk around without my brace,” he added after treatment.
