MONTREAL – Practice can be grueling on the best of days, but for a few Alouettes on the mend, being on the field was reason to smile on Wednesday.
Each nursing their respective injuries, Josh Bourke, John Bowman, Dwight Anderson and Jerald Brown each took part in a full practice with their teammates with their collective sights set on being in uniform when the team travels to Hamilton to take on the Tiger-Cats on Saturday night.

“I’m progressing with each day and still getting better,” said Brown who wore a protective brace around his ribs to help with his pectoral strain. “This longer week is definitely helping and I’m going to be ready and I’m going to play this weekend.”
Likewise, Josh Bourke, the reigning CFL Lineman of the Year is also not ruling out facing the Ti-Cats on Saturday.
“My ankle is still a little sore, so we decided to stay off it during practice on Tuesday. More precaution than anything else, but it was important that I get back out on the field today,” explained Bourke who suffered the injury against the Stampeders last week. “I still feel some pain, but it’s something that you just learn to play through. Right now my status is questionable for next game.”
Bowman continues to impress in his recovery from surgery on his left knee and the Als’ three-time defending sack leader is hopeful to be ready to stalk Hamilton quarterback Henry Burris on Saturday. Anderson meanwhile, is also making steady progress in his return from a fractured finger suffered at practice just prior to this year’s home opener.
As eager as these ailing Als are to get back to 100%, head coach Marc Trestman is monitoring their progress carefully.
“I thought Bowman did well today and so did Dwight and Josh,” confirmed Trestman. “We’ll have to wait and see how they feel tomorrow.”
