MONTREAL – Think everything is downhill once you turn 40? Not so fast. Birthday boy Anthony Calvillo is showing no signs of slowing down and the following over-40 overachievers are proof positive that life may in fact begin at 40.

George Foreman
When he wasn’t busy peddling non-stick grills Foreman was pounding on boxers almost half his age including trivia answer Michael Moorer whom Big George thumped in 1994 to win the IBF and WBC heavyweight crowns at age 46.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
The master of the sky hook, Kareem added two more NBA championship rings to his resume past age 40 with the Lakers.

Paul McCallum
Sure he may not be a household name, but there’s no denying B.C. kicker Paul McCallum’s awesomeness. He did after all shatter the CFL record for consecutive successful field goals (30) and win the Grey Cup as a 41-year-old last season.

Bernard Hopkins
The ageless Hopkins won the Ring Light Heavyweight title at age 41 before breaking hearts across the province of Quebec by winning the WBC Light Heavyweight crown over Laval’s own Jean Pascal in 2010 at age 46. Not convinced? Did we mention he is still active at age 48?

Hulk Hogan
Turning 40 hasn’t changed much for Hulk Hogan, either. He still on occasion climbs into the ring and he has always stayed true to his strict wardrobe of cut-off t-shirts and do-rags. The wrestling icon and also became a reality show star in his 40s. So whatcha gonna do?

Dominik Hasek
As if winning the Stanley Cup at age 42 with the Red Wings wasn’t enough for the six-time Vezina Trophy winner, the now 47-year-old Dominator is even hinting at a return to the NHL in 2012-13.

Jamie Moyer
Don’t let his accountant-esque physique fool  you, Moyer won a World Series with the Phillies at age 45 and holds the record for the oldest hurler to win a MLB game at age 49. And yes, he did finally hang-up his glove this year a few months shy of his 50th birthday.

Randy Couture
When this UFC legend reached the big 4-0, he toasted the occasion by winning the UFC Heavyweight title at age 44 before beginning his “acting” career.

Jack Nicklaus
The Golden Bear dominated on the links to the tune of his PGA-record 18 majors, including his final one at age 46 before hanging up his PGA tour putter for good a few years later.

The Undertaker
Still going strong – although undead – at age 47, the Undertaker extended his Wrestlemania streak to 20-0 in March. And while we’re on the subject: whatever happen to Paul Bearer?

Gordie Howe
Mr. Hockey took his moniker to the extreme by making a comeback at age 52 to play alongside his sons Mark and Marty with the Hartford Whalers in 1979-80. Don’t laugh, he still put up 15 goals and 41 points that year.

Nolan Ryan
The Ryan Express kept on chugging until age 46. Heck, Ryan pitched a pair of no-hitters well into his 40’s in addition to pummeling Robin Ventura after he foolishly charged the mound to confront him in 1993.

Chris Chelios
Chris Chelios played until he was 48, winning a Stanley Cup with Detroit as a 46-year-old defenceman. He certainly mellowed with age. Chelios was merely a young pup at 32 when he threatened Commissioner Gary Bettman’s family during the 1994 NHL lockout.

Damon Allen
Essentially Anthony Calvillo’s brother from another mother given their similar career paths, Damon Allen won his fourth Grey Cup at age 41 before breaking pro football’s all-time yardage record at age 43. Then he flashed his trademark class after he retired by personally congratulating AC on breaking his record last season. Need we say more?

Tim Wakefield
The most famous knuckleballer since Phil Neikro, Wakefield fluttered his way to an impressive 200 wins in his career before retiring last year at age 45. On the over 40 front, his second World Series ring with the Red Sox came when he was 41.
