MONTREAL – The Alouettes have known for weeks that they would be hosting the East Final and now they have an opponent: the Toronto Argonauts. Thanks to a 42-26 win over the Eskimos on Sunday afternoon, the Argonauts will be making the trip down the 401 to take on the Alouettes at Olympic Stadium on November 18 (TICKETS).
With a ticket to the 100th Grey Cup in Toronto on the line, the already heated rivalry between the Als and Argos will now reach a whole other level. This marks the ninth time the teams have met with a trip to the Grey Cup hanging in the balance, with the Alouettes holding a 6-4 mark in those match-ups. But the news gets even better for the Alouettes on home soil in East Finals against Toronto to the tune of a 5-2 record in Montreal (5-1 at Olympic Stadium).
As for Anthony Calvillo, his team has yet to lose to the Argos in the postseason when he’s at the helm. The Alouettes are 5-1 since AC became the team’s starter and that lone loss was in 2004 when Calvillo went down to injury in the opening quarter of the 2004 East Final at the Big O, with backup Ted White playing the rest of that 26-18 loss to the Argos.
The Alouettes had the edge in the season series between the East Division rivals this year, holding a 2-1 record against the Argos in the 2012 regular season.
