SHERBROOKE – It’s cut-down day in the CFL today and teams across the league will have to trim their rosters down to 65 players (not including non-counters) before midnight. With the deadline looming, a number of Alouettes had one last chance during the team’s practice Sunday morning to make an impression on coaches and football operations staff alike in the hopes of earning the right to stick with the club for the remainder of training camp.
Rookie wideout Wallace Wright continued doing what he has done so well since the start of camp, once again playing the role of a sure-handed target for Alouettes quarterbacks as he hauled in a few more catches during Sunday’s practice.
Receivers Jamel Richardson and D.L. Moore also impressed, each on the receiving end of catch-and-run plays that ended with sprints to the end zone, the two shifting defensive backs in the process. Richardson and Moore were both shadowed by Head Coach Dan Hawkins on the plays, who greeted his receivers with congratulations in the end zone.
Rookie defensive back Kendric Burney also saw his stock rise for the second-straight day when he made a pick during practice, his third in the last two days.
