MONTREAL – The Alouettes announced on Monday that veteran offensive lineman Scott Flory will undergo an MRI on his left arm today and that the club expects him to be out of the lineup for an extended period of time, if not for the entire season. Flory, who turned 37 today, is suspected to have suffered a torn bicep in Friday night’s game against the Calgary Stampeders at Percival Molson Stadium.
The results of the MRI should be known tonight or tomorrow, at which point the club will update his status. Flory, who joined the Alouettes, the only professional team he has played for, in 1999, spent most of his 15-year CFL career blocking at right guard for pivot Anthony Calvillo.
The three-time Grey Cup champion has also been named the Alouettes Most Outstanding Lineman six times, a CFL all-star on nine occasions, and the CFL’s Most Outstanding Lineman twice for his work in the trenches. He’s also been an East Division All-Star for 11 years running.
The Regina native, who played collegiately at the University of Saskatchewan, has been durable over his career with the Alouettes, starting every regular season contest over the past 12 years. He suited up for 243 regular season games with Montreal, second-most amongst active Alouettes players, trailing only Calvillo with 265.
Left guard Andrew Woodruff meanwhile, was re-evaluated by team doctors last Thursday after sustaining a concussion during the team’s home opener on July 4. He was placed on the 9-game injured list after the doctors concluded that he would be unavailable to play for an extended period of time.
The team also announced that import running back Chris Jennings has been released.
The Alouettes will play their next game on Saturday, July 20 at 7:00 p.m., when they travel to McMahon Stadium to complete their back-to-back series against the Stampeders.
