MONTREAL – The Alouettes would like to thank their fans for the tremendous generosity they showed at last Friday’s home game against the Calgary Stampeders. A total of $15,000 was raised for the Canadian Red Cross’ Explosion Lac-Mégantic Support Fund which will go towards helping those affected by the Lac-Mégantic tragedy.
The Canadian Red Cross has been working on the ground since the disaster began, opening a shelter for evacuees in the immediate hours following the explosion. Friday’s donations will help the humanitarian organization and its 75 volunteers from all over Quebec to continue providing around-the-clock service to the evacuees, while also tending to all of their essential needs, including meals, clothing, personal care items and a place to sleep.
Kyries Hebert, Michael Carter and Alouettes cheerleaders meanwhile, will be back in the community Wednesday night at the Unis pour Lac-Mégantic benefit concert at Le National, raising funds for Fonds Avenir Lac-Mégantic together with a number of other sports and entertainment personalities, including Montreal Canadiens Daniel Brière, Francis Bouillon, and David Desharnais, tennis player Aleksandra Wozniak, and more.
