MONTREAL – The Canadian Football League named its Players of the Week on Wednesday, with three of the four hebdomadal honours heading to Alouettes players after their work in Week 5.
Linebackers Kyries Hebert and Shea Emry, along with kicker Sean Whyte were named Defensive, Canadian, and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively.
Kyries Hebert – Defensive Player of the Week
The 32-year-old Eunice, Louisiana native recorded ten defensive tackles and a pair of quarterback sacks Thursday opposite the Eskimos. Wreaking havoc among opposing offences since the start of the season, Hebert now leads league with seven sacks.
Shea Emry – Canadian Player of the Week
The 27-year-old Canadian linebacker continues to build off of his breakout 2012 season, picking up a pair of interceptions in Thursday’s win over Edmonton.
Emry also helped the Alouettes defensive unit hold the Eskimos to just 308 offensive yards, including via two back-to-back game-winning goal line stands.
It’s the second Week 5 honour for the Richmond, B.C.-native, who was also named Thursday’s Player of the Game by fans via the official Alouettes mobile app.

Sean Whyte – Special Teams Player of the Week
Kicker Sean Whyte stayed true to his jersey number last week, nailing six field goals from the 32, 31, 24, 24, 15, and 9-yard-lines, good for 18 of the Alouettes 36 points scored in Thursday’s win. The 26-year-old maintained a 47.9-yard average on punts while also pinning the Esks from their 2-yard-line with a coffin corner kick in the fourth quarter.
