MONTREAL – The Alouettes announced on Thursday that the club has added a trio of import defensive ends in Collins Ukwu, Jerrell Harris and Tenarius Wright, as well as import defensive back Trevard Lindly to the team’s practice roster.
Ukwu (6’4”, 260 lbs.) signed with the Minnesota Vikings and participated in the team’s training camp in 2013. The La Vergne, TN native played for the University of Kentucky, appearing in 46 games with the Wildcats. During his four-year collegiate career from 2009 to 2012, Ukwu tallied 109 defensive tackles and was voted by his peers as a permanent team captain for the 2012 season. During his junior year in 2011, he led the Wildcats’ defensive linemen in both sacks with 2.5 and in tackles for losses with 6.5.
Harris (6’3″, 242 lbs.) originally signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2012. He spent last season on Jacksonville, New England and Oakland’s practice squads. In 2013, the native of Gadsden, AL, was picked up by the San Diego Chargers. The 24-year-old also played on national championship teams with the Crimson Tide at the University of Alabama in 2009 and 2011. Harris helped his team capture their 14th national championship with a 21-0 victory over LSU by recording seven defensive tackles.
Wright (6’2”, 252 lbs.) signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in April 2013 and was also invited to tryout at the Kansas City Chiefs rookie mini-camp in May. The Memphis, TN native played his college football at the University of Arkansas with the Razorbacks from 2009-2012. He finished his career with the Razorbacks having recorded 123 defensive tackles with 9.0 sacks, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Lindley (6’0”, 183 lbs.), a fourth-round draft pick (105th overall) of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2010, played in 11 games in his rookie campaign and tallied 21 tackles and an interception. He was released as part of the team’s final roster cut down in 2011, but rejoined the Eagles during the 2012 offseason. A four-year starter at the University of Kentucky (2005-2009), Lindley amassed 158 tackles and 10 interceptions while also holding the school record with 34 pass breakups.
In addition to the signings, former Alouettes slotback Bo Bowling has come out of retirement and the team now has ten days to decide if he will be added to the roster.
Bowling (5’9”, 183 lbs.) started six games for the Alouettes in 2012 catching 10 passes for 127 yards, including his first career receiving touchdown following an 18-yard strike from Anthony Calvillo on October 20 against Saskatchewan.

The Tonkawa, OK native duplicated that success and scored his second major the following week on a six-yard touchdown reception against Edmonton in Week 17.

During his two seasons with Montreal, Bowling also contributed on special teams returning 34 punts for 200 yards.
